•  After approximately ten days across the Atlantic, the bananas  arrive in Portsmouth still in a green state; where they are off-loaded and a sample given a green assessment to determine the guality of the fruit on arrival. The bananas are then trucked to the ripening facility, where the ripening process takes about 5 days to complete, before they reach the supermarket shelf.
