Farms on the Windward Islands are quite small and mostly on slopes, where it is not possible to engage any machinery. However, on the limited flat lands available, some machinery may be employed for land preparation. Also too, with the improvement in technology, young plants may be germinated using tissue culture materials rather than just relying on the old method of getting the suckers for planting from the matt near to the mother plant.
